Claire Wittman is a playwright, dramaturg, and educator based in Virginia. She received her MFA in Playwriting from the Hollins University Playwright's Lab and her MFA and MLitt in Shakespeare in Performance from Mary Baldwin University. Claire loves creating theatre for young actors and audiences, taking walks while listening to podcasts, and spending time with her cat Juliet and fiancé Patrick. Phillida & Gallathea, Claire's adaptation of John Lyly's 1588 play Gallathea, will premiere at the Virginia Theatre Association's High School One-Act Festival, presented by the students of Appomattox Regional Governor's School.
Claire is very honored to serve as the dramaturg for Claire F. Martin's world premiere Pride and Prejudice, produced by Belle Esprit Theatre Collective for the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern in May 2025.
